Our schools lag behind in ICT integration when compared to schools in developed countries due to many reasons such a Procurement, Capacity limitations, Scale, Remoteness, Language issues, quickly changing technology, Useless or ad-hoc software, Connectivity, and Lack of proper operating systems. High cost of buying and maintaining software tools also one of the major reasons for this disadvantage. Free and open source software (FOSS) help teachers in solving this problem, as they are free to install for educational purpose. Pre-service teachers must learn and use these tools during the teacher training course. The present paper discusses some of this most useful free and open source tools that should be taught during teacher training course.en_US
