Abstract: OBJECTIVES  To find out the main and interaction effects of Gender, Birth order and Type of management of the school on Problem Solving Ability in Mathematics of upper primary school students. METHODOLOGY Method : Survey Sample : Seventh standard students Tool : Mathematics Problem Solving Ability Test Statistical Techniques: Descriptive statistics, Three way ANOVA CONCLUSION The study also revealed that the main effect of Type of management of the school on Problem Solving Ability in Mathematics and on the three stages of Problem Solving is significant. From the study it was also found that the interaction effect of Gender and Type of management on Problem Solving Ability in Mathematics and ability to understand the problem, devise the plan and carry out the plan are significant. That is, at different levels of management girls and boys show difference in their ability to solve problems in Mathematics.
